Microsoft is holding the Microsoft Windows and Surface event, where it wants to present further details about the Surface Laptop Ultra notebook with the Nvidia RTX Spark platform. The event begins on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 1:00 p.m. Eastern and 6:00 p.m. British time, and takes place in San Francisco.

According to The Verge and Engadget, the presentation should last approximately one hour. Sources differ slightly on the date: The Verge explicitly states October 7, Engadget in a text dated October 6 writes about the event taking place the following day, and TechSpot, based on the date of a published tweet, suggests October 6.

The event is titled "Something new is coming from Windows." The livestream will run on Microsoft's channels on X, Instagram and YouTube, Engadget reported.

Who will appear at the Microsoft Windows and Surface event

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, head of the Windows and Devices division Pavan Davuluri and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will appear at the event. Tom's Guide attributes to Huang words about "reinvent the PC." According to Engadget, Microsoft said in the invitation that it would be the latest news across Windows, Nvidia RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem.

  • 15-inch mini-LED touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits in HDR

The notebook was first shown this year at the Microsoft Build developer conference. According to TechSpot, the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box may also appear at the event.

Nvidia RTX Spark

Nvidia introduced the platform in June. According to TechSpot, the highest configuration combines a 20-core Arm processor developed with MediaTek, 6,144 CUDA cores and up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory. The company promises one petaflop of performance for FP4 AI and integrated graphics comparable to a laptop RTX 5070 GPU. The same source also mentions a promise of nearly identical performance when powered from the mains and from the battery.

At the IFA trade fair, Nvidia confirmed that the first RTX Spark notebooks and desktops will arrive in October. The lower variant of the chip has 18 cores and 5,120 CUDA cores. Besides Microsoft, the platform is supported by Dell, HP, Asus, MSI, Lenovo and Acer. It brings DLSS, ray tracing and G-Sync, and EA, Ubisoft and Microsoft have promised gaming support.

Price and AI in Windows

Microsoft has not yet confirmed prices. TechSpot states that the base 18-core model starts significantly above $2,000, while Engadget and Tom's Guide estimate roughly $3,000. On the Windows side, according to The Verge, demonstrations of locally running AI agents are expected, as well as improvements in performance, reliability and the interface.
